Description/Remarks | The figure is not solid. It is hollow with a bronze armature so it should not be stood on or sat upon as any external weight or pressure could cause structural damage. Flagging around pool is an integral part of the design. The sculpture was commissioned in November 1958 by Prof. Philip Baxter; installed on site in January 1960; opening ceremony was in May 1960. |
