Description/Remarks    Artist belongs to the Tjungurrayi skin group. Brown, cream, blue and burgundy brown acrylic paint on canvas. 7 rows x 5 1/2 rows of circles joined by bars, all cream with brown stripes. Between these areas are dots of burgundy brown, blue, and cream. "This painting depicts the Tingari site of Kaakuratintja (Lake MacDonald). In mythological times a large group of Tingari men travelled to this site from the south to perform ceremonies. They later continued their journey to Kintore. Since events associated with the Tingari Cycle are of a secret nature, no further detail was given. generally the Tingari are a group of mythical characters of the Dreaming, who travelled over vast stretches of the country, performing rituals and creating and shaping particular sites. The Tingari Men were usually followed by Tingari Women and accompanied by novices and their travels and adventures are enshrined in a number of song cycles. These mythologies form part of the teachings of the post-initiatory youths today as well as providing explanations for contemporary customs." From Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd documentation certificate, catalogue no. YY 960440 dated 24/4/96, signed J. Stanton per D Williams. Painted at Kintore during 1996, language group Pintupi.
