| Description/Remarks | Ireland chose to challenge the traditional placement of sculpture (on the flat plane) by creating a work that required an inclined plane. As a result the sculpture emerges from the slope and moves downwards, involving itself with the landscape. This site-specific work was originally designed for the slopes of the Pool Lawn, but to give it greater prominence it was installed instead on the grassy hill at the top of Library Road. In 1997, due to construction of the John Niland Scientia, and the eastward extension of The Mall, the sculpture was relocated......to the Pool Lawn. |
