| Description/Remarks | Central elongated spirit figure has octopus-shaped head, legs, tail. Background of diagonal lines fall away from the head; all in cross-hatch pattern (rarrk) in yellow, white and brown ochres. From John Cawte's "The Universe of the Warramirri": "Marryalyan the Sea Hero is shown ending the wet season. The sky has cleared and the clouds dissolved.....his arms are disappearing to denote inactivity. The black couds are sinking around his legs into the ocean. The lines all run downwards." |
