| Description/Remarks |
Image depicts central bird with wings stetched out circled by black sea snake. Label on verso reads: "Manjawila's paintings centre around mangrove life on the shores of Milingimbi Island, which is the country of his mother./Growing among the mangrove roots and leaves are shell fish of different kinds, sea slugs and trepang. This is the home of the sea snake, with the mangrove heron living nearby, feeding on the abundant supply of sea creatures that are in the mangrove roots or washed in with the coming tide./Painted by MANJAWILA- Gupapuynju Clan/Milingimbi N.T." |
