| Description/Remarks |
Red, cream and dark brown ochre coloured acrylic paint on linen, with verticle stripes on 1/4 of right side and sweeping stripes across most of the rest of the painting. Upper left centre contains red background with 24 small circles, 2 U shapes joined by a dash and 4 u shapes joined by a dash. "Painting depicts designs associated with the travels of an old woman, Kutungka Napanangka, from the west. She visited the soakage water site of Tjintjintjin which is west of Mantati Outstation, approximately seventy kilometers west of the Kintore Community. The circles are rocks and the lines at the outer edges represent the sandhills surrounding the area. She then travelled further east to Muruntji, south-west of Mt. Liebig. This old woman is said to be a bit of a 'devil-devil' as she kills and eats people." From Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd documentation certificate, catalogue no. PN 20000199 dated 9/2/01, signed by D Williams for P. Sweeney. Painted at Kintore during 2000, language group Pintupi. |
