| Description/Remarks | Sir John Philip Baxter (1905-1989) - a chemical engineer, born in Wales - accepted the post of foundation professor of Chemical Engineering at the New South Wales University of Technology, Kensington in 1949, and later in 1955, became the first Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales. Baxter was appointed OBE in 1946, CMG in 1959 and KBE in 1965 for services to science and engineering. |
