| Description/Remarks | This painting won the 1954 Wynne Prize and was one of the first works acquired by the University. Image depicts a streetscape viewed from beneath a suspended balcony, in Cooktown, North Queensland. Read visited Cooktown in June 1954 to make preparatory sketches; the street depicted here is probably Charlotte Street. (In original white-painted timber frame) |
